| I have apparently lost my damn mind.
I want my garb done by Saturday the 10th. That is this Saturday. I believe I'm more than halfway through the blue dress as I spent nearly all day Saturday 'and' Sunday working on it. Transferring patterns and cutting them out took forever. Apparently my back only allows 5 minutes of bending over before it begins screaming. And while this is my first sewing pattern ever it doesn't seem that 'hard', only fiddly. I suspect my years of watching various craft shows and Martha Steward type shows on PBS has managed to give me a good sense of the basics on many things, including this. But I still need to cut out pattern pieces for the overdress, cut the fabric pieces, and sew it all together, after finishing the underdress.
To add to that, I wrote a lot Friday night and met the goal for Saturday. Then I did nothing writing-wise for the rest of the weekend. I've been turning the story line around in my mind though and thinking about it. This may actually be the year I don't finish. Hey, first time for everything. So far I'm just not feeling it.
When I had to take breaks from sewing I was knitting overtime on the first sock for Kelli. She's ordered 4 pairs and I really want them to be awesome. I'm nearly half way, though the second half, after I do the heel origami, really doesn't seem to take that long, until I get to the ribbing on size 0 needles. And now I know that's only 16 rows so it feels a little easier to accomplish this time around. The yarn has been great to knit with though, despite an issue with one of the skeins. But that one is getting sent back to the seller and will be replaced so yay!
Lynn was awesome and built my wings for my Dagorhir persona. I told him what material we needed to use, found it online so he knew exactly what color I wanted, and sent him a reference picture. He took it from there and I have to say, they look amazing!
I have done no planning for my birthday. Other than going to faire and spending the day with Lynn and Dragon, I don't know what the plan might be. I know Lynn has talked about taking half the day off for the actual day but I don't know more than that. Normally I have this all planned out and all and this year I just haven't had time.
Likewise for Thanksgiving. Normally I have a delicious menu all planned out. I think this year will be the simple basics. I hate cooking in our kitchen and never feel like I have enough room.
Mostly though I'm just a sewing / knitting machine with occasional breaks for writing. That was the weekend. |
