Friday I got to open Miss Kid's birthday present for me. Lots and lots of yarn and the elusive Pumpkin Spice Hershey's Kisses that I've been looking for. Yay!
Saturday was a busy day. We started out at Murder by the Book listening to Cherie Priest talk about her newest book and getting it signed. I'd wanted to take a couple of her other books that I have and get them signed too but we didn't have time to grab them before running out the door. It was fantastic to see her again though.
After that it was off to hit up as many vintage shops as we could. While I didn't find what I was looking for I did get some great inspiration for the outfit I'm planning. I actually ended up finding the shirt I wanted at Ross of all places. Now all I need is a red belt and black pumps.
Sunday was Dagorhir practice and I got to give the new costume it's first run. Detachable sleeves? Didn't stay on very long at all. All that arm swinging and such was not their friend. Mask? Doesn't obstruct too much of my vision. Wings? Lightweight, bendy, and awesome. Bodice? I need metal gromets instead of pretty little ribbon loops for the lacing. Stupid ribbon frays super easy and by the end of practice several had torn out. But overall the costume was a hit. Now to think of a name and backstory for her.
Today I'm sore and achy, but it's slowly working out as I move around. It was totally worth it though. Now for knitting and catching up on WWE Survivor Series. Looks like a lot of our weekends from here through the end of the year are going to be busy.
