Birthday Weekend
I Love You - Geisha
First!! Thank you so much t firesign10 or the gingerbread v-gift! It made me smile!

I knew I wanted this weekend to be a bit special, a bit different. Lynn's birthday was Sunday and I wanted to make the weekend as much about him as possible, as well as giving him the gift he'd requested.

Saturday we joined up with some friends to have lunch. We met at Puffabelly's ad had a simply lovely time laughing and talking over fried pickles and green tomatoes. My lemon pepper catfish and shrimp was awesome; Lynn said his fried catfish was very tasty too. Afterward he asked to stop by The Amish Barn to see if he wanted any more of their canned goods. I was happy to walk there with him as I love their jams, jellies, hot sauces, and cheese balls, and they always have plenty out for tasting.

Then it was time for a bit of shopping since Lynn wasn't sure he wanted to spend too much of his holiday out of the apartment. First up was Twisted Yarns for a belated Christmas present for me. They were having their end of the year sale and I got some of the most awesome pretties.

Sock Yarn:

More Sock Yarn:

And some roving which I'll spin into yarn as soon as I get a better handle on spinning. Having this beauty waiting will surely inspire me to get practicing on the bare roving I have.

Then we were off to Kohl's to spend a couple gift cards I had. We hit them with the year end sale as well and I got some awesome deals. Plus! I finally found some shoes! I got these mules for over half off, they fit wonderfully and will be awesome to show off my knit socks. I came very close to also getting these loafers, but didn't like how they fit and the next size down wasn't available. We also found two new tops that I love very much. Then a run to the grocery store and an invitation from our friend that works there to come over for dinner in the beginning of the new year.

Sunday was Dagorhir practice and wow did it feel good to be back out there and fighting with the guys. I popped several stitches in the back of my dress, along the zipper. I'll do a quick fix on that for next practice but it looks like I'll be doing another dress sooner rather than later. At least this time I have several modifications I know I want to make to it. We were both very sore and rather cold by the end of it since we'd sat with everybody and bs'ed for a bit before heading home.

Being out and seeing people, hanging and laughing, has helped 'me' so much. I'm feeling lighter and freer. I really need that interaction and it's so hard to come by in the colder months when everybody hermits. Plus, Lynn and I worked a bit this past week to clear out some of the clutter. More boxes went out, the whole closet is getting looked at and cleaned out, 2 huge runs to Goodwill have happened. It's a slow process but I'm seeing progress and less clutter helps my brain.

It's been a wonderful weekend that's getting extended for 2 more days as Lynn's home until Wednesday.
