Weekend
Fire Dance
Friday I was sitting down for a bit of knitting and tv. There was a giant crash in the living room and the over head light was swinging wildly. Some of the storage containers we had stacked up had decided to flip. Several bottles of alcohol had been on top and were now shattered on the floor. I called Lynn and asked if he could hurry home to help clean up. The wonderful man did most of the cleaning. The total loss comes to a bottle of Godiva Chocolate (new), Crown Royal Black (nearly new), Almond Liquor (unopened), Bailey's Irish Mist (unopened), Bailey's Caramel (new), and martini mix in (half full).

We managed to get everything back in order and headed out to the game we'd made plans to attend. We met up with some guys and played a mash-up of Matthew Finch's Swords & Wizardry and Kevin Crawford's Stars Without Number. Awesome group of guys and a great game. We both had a lot of fun.

Saturday we did a bit more cleaning before going thrifting with Jenny. One store was not so great but at the 2nd I found several nice pieces that look great on me, including a pair of very nice grey slacks. Then Lynn and I mailed out 16 lbs of yarn as well as a couple of angels and made a run to Lowes. I should have more shelves in the bathroom soon and I'll be able to put the newest of my polishes up, rather than have them on the counter.

Sunday we went to Baba Yega and had an incredible breakfast buffet. It's pricey but oh so worth it. We'll have to go back soon-ish because there were several things that I wanted to try but didn't get around to.

This morning I went to the Dr about my hand and ankle, a deep bruise and a bad sprain respectively. Nothing to really do about them, though I do have some pain meds and anti inflammatory stuff. Hopefully it'll heal up soon.

Today's also the last day to vote for this week's Idol poll. Please, please stop by and vote for my entry, Washed Away. I don't want to end the story yet.

What a mess! I'm glad you weren't standing next to it when it fell.

That's a lot of yarn to mail. I need to start doing something with my yarn again, I haven't crocheted since before Christmas.

I'm glad nothing serious is wrong with your hand and ankle, I hope they're feeling better soon. *hugs*

I voted! Good luck!

Yeah, though if I had then I might have been able to catch some of it and keep the loss to a minimum.

LOL Yeah. I was given a lot of yarn for free, mostly acrylics. I pulled the stuff I'd use and offered the rest on Ravelry. A lady in Florida who does a lot of work for charity asked for it so it'll end up bringing a 'lot' of people happiness.

:hugs: Me too, having to be careful of them all the time is annoying.

Thank you so much!

I can give you a few strengthening pointers to help your ankle, both of mine are notorious for rolling so they sprain easily and also equals physical therapy now and then. The best one(also the most annoying one, but you could do it while knitting) is to sit in a straight back chair, the un-sprained foot resting normally on the floor with the sprained ankle leg extended straight out from your hip and write the abc's with your foot without moving anything else but your foot and ankle. Uppercase letters are easier, lower case take more concentration and are harder but more worth the effort. I can tell you some different ones in an email if you'd like, I don't want to take up a ton of comment space.lol

If you have an resistance band, or anything similar to sub for one(example: http://www.amazon.com/Aylio-Fitness-Exercise-Anchor-Medium/dp/B0026PMD70/ref=sr_1_2?s=exercise-and-fitness&ie=UTF8&qid=1363056302&sr=1-2 ) sit in a straight back chair with your foot resting flat across the band, the ends in each of your hands. While pulling up on the band, holding it steady, raise and lower your foot(at the heel to toe) into a flat position. Reps of 10 to start if you can do that much. Also with the band, loop it around your foot, between your toes and ankle(the arch area) and hold the ends together in one hand away from your body then move your foot in the opposite direction of the end of the band(fighting the resistance).Don't lift your foot and move it slowly to really stretch the muscles.Like a set of 5 then switch the ends to the opposite hand and repeat. I'll have to think of what others I've done. Both of those you can technically do without a band, they just have way more impact with one.

Awesome! :D

I just did that and my muscles are surprisingly sore. I'll have to do more of that.

I am mourning that poor Godiva liqueur.... :(

Me too. Though I'm more upset over the Crown Royal. I don't know that I've been lacking in Crown since 2003 or so. :(
