Speaking of Idol, several of the previous season's contributors were asked to allow their pieces to be put into a book and they were also asked to provide new, never before seen pieces for this publication as well. I have two of my previously posted entries as well as two new pieces in the book! Pre-orders are now available and from what I've heard elsewhere, should be delivered by Christmas but I haven't been able to verify that just yet. Weekend: Friday night we had brown sugar glazed turkey ham for dinner with a side of shells and cheese and wrote up a list of to do's for the next day. Saturday we finished re-shelving 800 some odd books, organized the pantry and fridge, cleaned the kitchen, vacuumed, and did all the laundry. It was a busy, busy day. But, now the house will be clean for Thanksgiving, I have room for food, and all should be clean while I go off for a week. Sunday was dance class for Miss Kid and I spent the time browsing in Michael's since I haven't had time to just poke through the isles and see what springs to mind. Afterward we took Miss Kid to Chuck E. Cheese as a reward for helping out so much with all the work on Saturday. Then we stopped in for small cones at Baskin-Robbin's and wondered around GameStop for a bit before taking her home to her mother's. Back home Lynn and I sat down and figured out our timetable for cooking on Thursday ... holy crap we'll be busy! Thank gods for spreadsheets to organize our time. How was your weekend? Friday I got so many notes from all of you on LJ, Facebook, and IM and even a card! That was after waking up to Stephen King's Dreamcatcher in hardback next to me in the bed. I found chocolates on my computer desk, they were coffee creme and have such a rich taste that softly creeps over your taste buds so that it's like a smooth coating rather than a burned taste like so many other coffee flavored chocolates. Downstairs on my place setting at the table was a small box of chocolates that I haven't opened yet. With each gift was a sweet love note. Once Lynn was on his way home I started getting ready for our night out. He took me to dinner at Todai. Some of you will remember that this is where we went last year on my birthday as well and that's when he proposed to me. We had the most lovely evening, stuffing ourselves silly with sushi and hot off the grill meats, chatting back and forth, and getting lost in one another's eyes before giggling like two kids up to no good. Then he brought me home and we enjoyed ourselves in another way that I'll simply leave to your imagination. Early Saturday morning we were up and moving so that we could get our workouts in before garbbing it up and heading off to the Texas Renaissance Festival. We met 13jamie and wondered around the grounds saying hi to friends and family. Lynn told me that after having to put it off for 4 or 5 years I could finally start building a character again for faire time. Yay!! So I got more gifts of a lovely leather mask, feather earrings, and a feather headpiece, all of course in purple and black. Hopefully next year I can see about getting another corset. And he said I could see about commissioning a necklace from one of the lovely artisans I know. All in all were there for about 8 hours and walked for about 6 hours thus working off nearly all of that sushi we'd so delightedly consumed the night before. Sunday was a quiet work day. I mostly worked on reading LJ Idol entries while Lynn did various things that needed doing, like running loads of laundry, spot cleaning the carpet, and curling up on the couch next to me for snuggle time. Plus I thought of a lovely way to motivate him to get work done, I'll have to try it with Mr. Boyfriend and see if it works on him as well! We packed up some of our books at the end of the alphabet for storage in the attic until we have a house and room to bring them back out. Then we took 4 boxes of older books to half price and traded them in. There I picked up Just After Sunset by Stephen King to add to the hardback collection of his I have going as well as the pop-up book version of The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon by Stephen King! I also snagged Coraline by Neil Gaiman and The Ruins by Scott Smith. There were more since we brought home about 20 books but those are the big highlights. Then there was a trip to the grocery store and finally home. It's been a fantastic weekend and birthday, made even more wonderful by all my lovely friends! How's your weekend been? | |

I want a job where I could work from home. Then I could manage myself, write as I liked, and work on my dreamcatchers. I want to the dreamcatchers to take off and become a successful part time job. I'd also like to start getting paid for writing but I need to put far more work into that and polish up some of my work. What is your favorite alcoholic drink? I really don't have one. I tend to default to a strawberry margarita once or twice a year when out but I haven't had many alcoholic drinks to really compare with. Name an article of clothing you almost never wear, but could never part with (and why).
I have three shirts that I pulled from my Nanny's closet shortly after she died, before everything was tossed. I wear them on occasion but not often because I want them to be around for a long time. Just like to say thanks for sticking around.

Yes and no. I support the idea of it but not the way it's currently being done. I think it needs reform and a lot of changes to speed up the process. I'm not a fan of paying for somebody to languish behind bars while they while away years waiting for that final day. Do I annoy you?

May today be delightful for you and may the coming year bring you all the security and creativity you can ask for. Saturday we spent quite a bit of time at Miss Kid's school for an International Day. We watched her dance with her mother and enjoyed samples of food from various countries such as the Philippines, Greece, Japan, India, Korea, and China. There were many performances by the children from their native countries which I'm sure were lovely but the parents always crowded the stage and blocked the audience so they could get pictures. Afterward we went to Bed, Bath & Beyond to spend a gift card we'd gotten and we picked up new pillows and some kitchenware. Sunday Lynn started to get out of bed but I pulled him back in with talk of sleeping in and cuddling, with a smile he wrapped me in his arms. We finally got up and began moving around. Lloyd gave us a call and he and Jenny came over so that Lynn could help him with a bit of his math in his class that he was having trouble with. Lynn helped him and worked on adding in all the new books to our shelves we've picked up over the last three months. Lynn also made another homemade pizza while I did what I could to read more of the Idol entries. It was a wonderful day with candles burning, good food, and fantastic friends to share with. | |

| Birthday: Happiest of days to bodandra! My today be amazing for you and the coming year bring you many flavors of happiness and laughter! Bored Shadow is Busy Shadow: I got caught up on various things yesterday and decided I was bored sitting at the computer. So I cleaned. I organized bathroom closet and redid all the medicines and the towels. I cleaned up my desk, found two pair of earrings I was looking for, cleaned the kitchen, and set out some of the Halloween snacking candy. I did two loads of laundry, folded some clothes, did dishes, organized the hangers since they were taking over the floor, organized my shoes for the same reason, and did a pick up of various things that had found their way to other parts of the house. Then I had a whole hour to read and it felt so wonderful and guilt free to sit down with a book on the couch. Thoughts on LJ Idol: I write my entry before I read anybody else's. If you're on my friend's list and participating in Idol I will almost always skim right past your entry until I am ready to read it. I keep a spreadsheet where I make notes and keep track of who gets my votes, this way I can read a few at a time and not forget who really stood out for me. Plus I'm not trying to cram all those entries into one or two afternoons and then either missing some or not giving them as much consideration. After I've posted my entry I begin reading and leaving comments for everybody, typically in the order they were posted. If you're on my friend's list and I happen to cross yours on a view of updated journals then you get to skip the queue so to speak. I try to vote based on writing skill alone, not on how close we are as friends, though that does help at times. Wedding To Do: We worked on the list last night and ... crossed off nothing that was on the list and the list grew since we added to it. *sigh* On the plus side we have a time line of things that need doing and have scheduled it out. He's agreed that he can't work this weekend or next but everything after that is fair game. Which is fine. I'm just at that point where I need him here to finish things up and I can't do that if he's only home and conscious for 2 hours, including dinner time, each night. Weekend: Saturday was a birthday party for a friend of Miss Kid's so we were up early to hit Target for a present before the party. The party was relaxed and good. Once we were back home we got more packing done. Sunday we dropped Miss Kid off with her mother at dance class and made sure all her stuff went with her. The month long visitation is mostly over now, except for this coming weekend. We made a trip to Michael's to pick up the things I needed for a custom dreamcatcher. After futzing around the house for a bit we curled up on the couch to watch 'From Hell' and enjoy cheese and wine. Plans for today: I've got two dreamcatchers in the works, and two to upload. I've got the custom to get started on after I get my desk clear of the in progress ones. There's about 12 still sitting by when I'm ready to move on to those too. Tonight we need to start putting together the favors. And I need to contact the last handful of people that haven't replied with an RSVP. Only two weeks left! | |

Weekend: .... did not go as planned. We'd been planning and looking forward to this past weekend because it would be our first non-kid weekend in several weeks. We were going to have a wine and cheese day and curl up on the couch to watch movies. Friday night apisanthrop had to work late and didn't get home until nearly 8pm. He then had to be up early on Saturday to spend another full day at work. The overtime pay will be wonderful to have but damn ... I was really looking forward to this weekend. Saturday night I treated him to some seasoned salmon and pasta with a cheese sauce for dinner and Sunday morning we dug out all the cheeses, crackers, and grapes. I made some queso and added chips and the chilled wine to the line up. We laid everything out on the table and grazed our way through Kill Bill 1 & 2. We didn't make it to From Hell since a stop to the store was very necessary before Miss Kid got home; since we were out we stopped in at the bead store for centers for my various 3-inch rings and Michael's for more 5-inch rings. We did a bit of play in on our Dark Alliance game though. Wedding: There was few to no thoughts on the wedding this weekend. We took a weekend off from planning and such to simply relax. Wedding plans resume today. 21 days left! Dreamcatchers: Since I had all Saturday to myself I got several dreamcatchers done. I've got four to upload to the store today so those will be going up soon. I'm really pleased with how much I got done. When I get them in the store I'll also post them to Facebook and Twitter. A dark thread of blue winds down the middle of the path and leads you to the center where an aquamarine crystal heart hangs from the center of the webbing. Wedding: Holy crap! 25 days left! We've got a schedule for the day of, need to figure out scheduling for that weekend. I need to line the flower girl's basket and put the favors together. I suspect this is normal. We paid for 50 people to show up, invited 80, were willing to pay more if more people were able to come ... but now I'm worried that barely 20 will show. The minimum number that we can pay for is 50. *frets* Worries: I'm worried about Mr. Boyfriend. He's been out of a job for a bit and I think it's starting to get to him. Please keep him in your thoughts for a job soon. I can't say anymore about it as he prefers a quiet life to my loud and public way of being. (How he ended up with me and what he sees in me I'll never understand.) But hopefully the good thoughts will be enough to turn the tide for him. Gothic Glitter is a steampunkish store with some absolutely lovely pieces that are so pretty and shiny. It's a perfect store for anybody who believes that gothic does not equal dark and dull. I made sure he had a good lunch to take with him today and tomorrow while he's feeling things out there and he was out of here early this morning looking very nice! To bad I had to let him leave since he looked so good but I behaved myself. Nox certainly loved having me to herself this morning. She's been feeling very neglected. I'm not sure when he'll be heading home or if he'll have access to 'net today to let me know like he did at the old job. It's not a huge deal as if something does happen here I still have somebody I can contact that can contact him but it does mean that I can't have dinner waiting for him like I like to. I'll set aside something quick and easy to have tonight until we figure out a schedule. Why yes, I do spoil those I love. *grin* Craft Fairs / Cons Houston folks, do any of you know of craft fairs or conventions coming up that I could possibly sell the dreamcatchers at? I did get my bags unpacked much sooner than I did last time though. Dreamcatcher Contest: There's a writing community, brigits_flame that has some fantastic writers in it. I've been watching it since they started up and there are some really good writers. This week I happen to be running a mini contest and the prize is one of my custom dreamcatchers. All you writers out there should go check out their community and their monthly writing contests! Lynn's Job: He's passed the background and the first of two physicals.
